Accessibility statement

Toronto Eats is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which is the standard referenced by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.

What we have done

• Every image carries descriptive alternative text, or is marked decorative where it carries no information.
• Colour contrast is measured rather than estimated, including a 3:1 minimum on interface boundaries such as input borders and button outlines.
• Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
• The whole site is operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator at every step.
• Form fields have permanently visible labels, and errors are announced to assistive technology and described in text.
• Headings follow a logical order and pages use standard landmarks.
• Text can be resized and the layout reflows without loss of content.

Known gaps

We would rather name these than claim conformance we have not reached:

• The brand film does not yet have captions. It contains narration, so captions are required under WCAG 1.2.2 (Level A). A caption track has been prepared but not verified against the final edit, and we would rather publish none than publish captions that drift out of sync. This is being corrected.
• Some pages are still being written and may be sparse. That is a content gap rather than an accessibility one, but it affects how useful the site is.
